NCAA – Independent Accountability Resolution Process

Building understanding of the independent infractions review process.

In 2019, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) adopted the Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP) as an addition to its Division I infractions process. The IARP reviews select, complex infraction cases in Division I athletics and is led by groups of professionals who have no affiliation with NCAA member schools or conferences.

The NCAA chose Borshoff as the first and only agency to direct all communications related to the IARP. This work includes communications strategy, news media education, media inquiry management, website updates (iarpcc.org), and more. We have responded to hundreds of media inquiries and, in late 2021, directed the first IARP case decision press conference. Within the first 24 hours of the press conference, there were more than 100 media hits and millions of impressions.
