Although it might not look like it, what I was doing exactly a year ago isn’t entirely different from I’m doing right now. I was sitting at a desk, staring at a screen, trying to get a broad sense of what to expect for the New Year.
Sometimes, the biggest life lessons are learned through experiences at work. In the nine years I’ve worked at Borshoff, I’ve retained a number of valuable lessons that have shaped my life.
Before I had kids, I was excited about the things I’d teach my children – tangible things like how to sing the ABC’s, color inside the lines, ride a bike, and life lessons like – how to share with others, be kind, get up and try again and have a servant’s heart. The list goes on. What I didn’t realize, until I became a mother, was how much I’d learn from my kids.
Today is my 30th anniversary at Borshoff. I’m celebrating the big 3-0 exactly one year after the agency turned 30. Yes, I started on the company’s first anniversary. Back when Ronald Reagan was president and Robert Orr was Indiana’s governor. My desk sported a second-hand IBM Selectric typewriter. And the agency didn’t yet offer health insurance.
INDIANAPOLIS – Borshoff, a leading advertising, brand development and PR agency based in Indianapolis, recently announced top leadership changes. Susan Matthews, managing principal with a 30-year career at Borshoff, will step down at the end of 2015 but stay connected to the agency as a consulting principal. The other two principals, Jennifer Dzwonar and Karen Alter, will assume new roles. Dzwonar will become managing principal and Alter will assume responsibility for agency-wide operations.
